Dates for the 15th Season
Open House Archive
OPEN HOUSE, Rep. Kaufman's monthly public policy series, was launched in 1995 to provide a forum for discussing the challenges and opportunities facing our community and Commonwealth. While Rep. Kaufman invites guests with expertise and experience in the policy area under consideration, the public is an integral part of the program, and audience participation typically directs the conversation. OPEN HOUSE has been named the best television series by the Massachusetts Cable Television Commission, and was awarded the cable industry’s Beacon Award as the nation’s best government relations series. OPEN HOUSE is produced in partnership with the Lexington Historical Society and LexMedia, which films the forums for broadcast in eastern Massachusetts.
Rep. Kaufman talks transportation with Secretary Jeffrey Mullan
"The State of Public Transportation in Massachusetts"
Representative Jay Kaufman’s award winning public policy forum, “OPEN HOUSE”, continues with another timely topic for this month’s forum scheduled, for Thursday, March 18, 2010, at 7:30PM at the Historic Depot in Lexington Center. This month’s forum will have provide the public a chance to discuss an important issue affecting us all, the state of public transportation in the Commonwealth, with Jeffrey Mullan who serves in the Governor's Cabinet as Secretary of the newly-created Department of Transportation (MassDOT). This forum will offer attendees the opportunity to examine what’s behind our public transportation apparatus. How long will we continue to feel the effects of the Big Dig? Can the “T” be rescued and ever be run on a
profitable basis like other metropolitan cities? What role can Mass DOT play working with Massport in the future development at Hanscom Field? Find out the answers to these questions and bring your own to the Depot next Thursday, March 18th.
Jeffrey B. Mullan serves as Secretary and CEO of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), launched on November 1, 2009. Mullan oversees implementation of the most historic transportation reform law in decades.
He leads a new, unified organization that operates as one – one transportation agency with one mission: to provide a safe, reliable and efficient transportation network for citizens of the Commonwealth. As with all guests to Representative Kaufman's forums, he knows that the floor is open to questions on any aspect of state transportation policy, and yours are invited and encouraged. If you can't attend, email your thoughts/questions to Rep.JayKaufman@hou.state.ma.us.
