On July 3rd, faculty from China visited the State House as part of a three-week tour of the United States organized collaboratively by the Chinese Ministry of Education and the East-West Center. The U.S.-China Faculty Exchange aims to enhance teaching about China in the US and about the US in China. The faculty explore such shared issues as economic development, education, the environment, cultural diversity, social change and equity, for the purpose of promoting better relations and understanding among the people and nations of the United States, Asia, and the Pacific. I had the privilege of showing our visitors the House Chamber and speaking with them on a number of issues. It is certainly a pleasure to engage in a dialogue on such meaningful and thought-provoking issues.
