“Climate Change: An Earth Day Opportunity”
Representative Jay Kaufman’s award winning public policy forum, “OPEN HOUSE,” hits the trails with a special environmental session of “OPEN HOUSE” in, “Climate Change: An Earth Day Opportunity”. The forum, the seventh of the 23rd season, will be held Thursday, April 19th, from 7:00PM-8:00PM at the historic Depot in Lexington Center (13 Depot Square in Lexington Center).
Joining Representative Kaufman are Jack Clarke and Abbie Goodman. Jack is Director of Public Policy & Government Relations at the Massachusetts Audubon Society (Mass Audubon). He helped draft and pass the first-in-the-nation comprehensive ocean management law, the Massachusetts Rivers Protection Act, and the Community Preservation Act. He also holds appointments by the Governor to the Special Commission on Coastal Erosion and the Massachusetts Ocean Advisory Commission, which he chairs. Prior to his position at Mass Audubon, Jack worked for the US Department of the Interior/National Park Service at Cape Cod National Seashore and he also for thirteen years in the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs as the Assistant Director for Coastal Zone Management.
Abbie Goodman is the Executive Director of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) a not-for profit association management company that provides educational programs and information services to engineers, land surveyors, related professionals and the public. ACEC/MA’s mission is to increase public awareness of the value of the engineering profession, provide current information affecting the profession, offer administrative facilities and services to engineering organizations in New England, and provide a forum for discussion and resolution of professional issues. Prior to her role at the ACEC/MA, Abbie was Executive Director of the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism, and she also served as Executive Director of the Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment (MOTI).
Are global warming and climate change for real? If so, can we really do anything to stop it? What impact was did the President’s decision to pull the country out of the Paris Climate Accords have on climate change? Can the global community ever come together, or is it too late?
Don’t miss this very special event on April 19th, from 7PM-8PM. As always, the forum will take its shape largely from questions from the audience. Questions can also be submitted in advance by email, email@example.com, or tweet your questions to @repjaykaufman.
In 1997, OPEN HOUSE was awarded the prestigious Beacon Award, cable television’s equivalent of an Emmy. The series was also named the best television series by Massachusetts Cable Television Commission. The OPEN HOUSE series is produced through a partnership between Representative Kaufman and LexMedia which records the forums for broadcast in Lexington and Woburn.
